OF RACE
RULES
The regatta will be governed by the rules as defined in the Racing Rules of Sailing (RRS 2005-2008), the SCIRA Rules for Conducting National and International Championships, the Deed of Gift for the US Women's Snipe Nationals Trophy, and the Deed of Gift for the Women's Snipe North Americans Trophy.

ELIGIBILITY
SCIRA USA WOMEN'S NATIONALS:
This event is open to all female skippers and crews who are USA citizens, or residents for at least one year, and are paid members and in good standing with SCIRA and SCIRA USA and meet the requirements as further set forth in the SCIRA 2005-2008 Official Rulebook and the current version of SCIRA USA NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA, Rules for Conducting Event, and the Deed of Gift for the US Women's Snipe Nationals Trophy.
At the time of registration, both skipper and crew must be paid members in good standing with SCIRA and SCIRA USA, and must complete registration and measurement and pay all fee associated with the SCIRA USA Women's Nationals.
WOMEN'S SNIPE NORTH AMERICANS:
This event is open to all female skippers and crew of any nation who are paid members and in good standing with SCIRA and a SCIRA National, and meet the requirements as further set forth in the SCIRA 2005-2008 Official Rulebook, and the Deed of Gift for the Women's Snipe North Americans Trophy.
At the time of registration, both skipper and crew must be paid members in good standing with SCIRA and a SCIRA Nation, and must complete registration and measurement and pay all fees associated with the Women's Snipe North Americans.
ENTRY, FEES, & REGISTRATION
Eligible boats may enter by mail by completing the entry form located at www.snipe444.org/womens nationals
and mailing it, together with the required entry fee to the Kirk Smith, 5222 120th Ave. S.E., Bellevue, WA. 98006. Mail-in entries must be post marked by Saturday, May 3, 2008.
On-site Registration will be available from 1100 to 1700 on Friday, May 9, 2008 and Saturday, May 10, 2008 from 800-930, at Corinthian Yacht Club located at 7755 Seaview Ave NW, Pier V, Seattle, WA 98117. No entries will be accepted after 930, Saturday, May 10, 2008.
There is a single entry fee for participation in both regattas, for those eligible., The entry fee is $70.00 and includes a Friday night cocktail party at Corinthian Yacht Club, a Saturday night dinner and entertainment at Corinthian Yacht Club, and Sunday night trophy banquet..
Make checks payable to “SnipeFleet444.” Additional tickets for evening events are available for purchase for guests at registration.
SCHEDULE
On-site registration 1100 to 1700, Friday, May 9, 2008 and 0800-0930, Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Corinthian Yacht Club.
The start of a practice race is scheduled for 1700 on Friday, May 9, 2008.
A Competitor's Meeting is scheduled for 0900 on Saturday, May 10, 2008 at Corinthian Yacht Club.
The scheduled 1st Warning Signal for Saturday, May 10, 2008 is 1100. The 1st Warning signal for Sunday, May 11, 2008 is at 1000.
No race will be started after 1500 on Sunday, May 11, 2008.
The Race Committee will run as many races as time and conditions permit.
Dock side post race beverages and snacks scheduled for Saturday and Sunday.
Dinner and entertainment at Corinthian Yacht Club scheduled Saturday, May 10, 2008.
Trophy Banquet at TBD scheduled for 1830, Sunday, May 11, 2008.
MEASUREMENT, CLASS DECAL & SAFETY REQUIREMENTS
Each boat entering the SCIRA USA Women's Nationals and/or the Women's Snipe Challenge shall have a Measurement Data Sheet (MDS) on file at the SCIRA Office and shall have a current Class decal properly displayed. Further, each boat must carry all safety equipment required by SCIRA Rules, including a paddle, two wearable, US Coast Guard approved PFDs, and a towline of 10 meters (33') minimum length and 6mm (1/4") minimum diameter.
SAILING INSTRUCTIONS
Sailing Instructions will be available at registration at Corinthian Yacht Club on Friday, May 9, 2008. Provisional Sailing Instructions may be available earlier online at www.snipe444.org/.
SAILING AREA & COURSES
The racecourse will be located north of Meadow point and Shilshol Bay. The Race Committee reserves the right to move the racecourse to another location in Shilshol Bay depending on weather conditions.
Note, the water temperature at the race site is ~ 50 degrees F year round. For safety, be prepared to dress appropriately.
The Courses to be sailed will be the SCIRA Approved New Courses - 2003.
SCORING
The Low Point scoring system of Appendix A of the RRS will be used.
Three completed races constitute a regatta.
If more than 5 races are sailed, one throw out will be allowed, more than 8 races sailed, two throw outs will be allowed.
PRIZES
US WOMEN'S NATIONALS: At a minimum, prizes will be awarded to the skipper and crew of the top three finishers who are properly entered in the US Women's Nationals, and the perpetual for the US Women's Nationals Trophy will be awarded to the top eligible US finisher.
WOMEN'S SNIPE North Americans: A first place prize and the perpetual for the Women's Snipe North Americans trophy will be presented to the top overall finisher (any nationality).
CHARTER BOATS
Charter boats will be available on a first come first serve basis and must be requested by Saturday, May 3, 2008
Charter boats requested through the regatta organizers be insured through SCIRA USA and will be required to complete the SCIRA USA Charter Boat Agreement . Insurance premiums will be $40.00. There is also a required $250.00 damage deposit. This is a separate check which will be held and returned if not used.
Participants using Charter Boats must complete and submit required documents and pay all required fees by the end of registration on Saturday, May 10, 2008. All fees must be paid by either cash or check.
