Sail Upgrading
I will be organizing a fleet sail purchase over the next two months. We need to put together art least 3 suits of sails to obtain a discount. I am good for one full suit, Cliff has indicated he wants a new jib, Tom is interested as well. We need someone who wants a new main. Most everyone in the fleet can use some new sails. Please call me if you are interested.
If you have any used sails that still have some life in them
and that you are willing to sell to other fleet members, please let me
know. Those who would be interested in
buying some “gently used” sails and thereby upgrade their own inventory should
contact me as well.
Woman’s Nationals
The Snipe Woman’s Nationals is scheduled for May 9-11 at Shilshole. Kirk Smith is heading up this effort. He will need help with this project which will include work on:
Sponsorships and marketing the event
Arranging entertainment and food
Housing
Boat charters and boat transportation
RC help – whaler drivers spectator boats
Event day coordinators
Kirk will be coordinating a series of planning meetings to launch this project and will be in touch with fleet members to arrange dates and locations.
Leschi Float Rental
Tom Colligan is working on organizing a fleet rental of the north float. The idea is for the fleet to rent the float for the year and in turn rent out the slots to individual fleet members. This effort should result in a potential savings, better control over the entire float and more sailing. The plan is to rent the float for the calendar year 2008 (starting in January). The floats are configured for 8 slots. With a little ingenuity it could hold 9 boats, three of which would have “prized” end spots. This could create a savings of up to 22% over current annual moorage fees. In addition, we would be able to use any free space on the dock to keep other items such as storage boxes, kayaks, other boats, etc. We need 7-9 individuals to step up and make a commitment to this plan.
Tom, Cliff, and I are definitely in. At least 4 more are needed. Tom will be in touch with fleet members to set this up.
