Sailing
Instructions
1. Rules
The regatta will be governed by the 2005 - 2008 ISAF and SCIRA rules,
except as any of these are changed by these sailing instructions.
2. Notices to Competitors
Notices will be posted in
the window at the CYC Leschi Clubhouse entrance. Changes in the sailing
instructions will be posted shortly after the skippers meeting on Saturday.
3. Responsibility
All competitors in Snipe Fleet events participate at their own risk. It
shall be the responsibility of the skipper to inform the crew of the risks of
sailboat racing to make sure they understand and accept those risks, to decide
whether the crew is competent and adequate for the event, and to decide whether
to start or continue a race.
4. Safety
4.1 Competitors shall have life jackets on board at all times when
racing.
4.2 A boat that leaves the racing area before finishing or before the
last race of a day should try to notify the race committee.
5. Courses
Courses will be posted on the RC boat by signs W, T, and O designating
Windward/Leeward, Triangle and Olympic respectively. A ‘2’ as part of a course
posting indicates a second lap. All marks are rounded to port.
7. The Start
The starting line will be between the orange flag on the RC boat and
the pin. The start line will also serve as the finish line. The start/finish
line is restricted unless finishing. The
starting sequence will be governed by rule 26. The RC is not responsible to
notify individual recalls however will attempt to do so.
8. Time Limit
There is no time limit for the races. The Race Committee, at their
discretion, may abandon a race
before any boat finishes. If one
boat finishes, boats will have 30 minutes to finish. Boats that do not finish
within this 30 minutes will be scored DNF. This modifies Rule 35.
9. Protests
9.1 Protests shall be delivered to the race committee chairman no later
than one hour after the race committee boat docks.
9.2 Protests will be heard following racing.
10.Scoring
The series will be scored as provided in Appendix A of the racing rules
using the Bonus Point System. All races will be scored.
